Mikhail Sookoor

Senior Design Manager

Mikhail is a Senior Design Manager at buildingcommunityWORKSHOP in Dallas. He supports the organization’s architectural and prefabrication efforts.

Mikhail has extensive experience in commercial and residential projects in the Dallas, Fort Worth and Phoenix areas while honing his craft over 12 years under various architects. His interests lie in art, social sustainability and societal justice through architectural engagement. Mikhail was part of the student construction crew for Pat and Earnest’s house under [bc]’s 2008 Congo Street Initiative. Working in construction with [bc] and the University of Arlington’s School of Architecture’s woodshop has given Mikhail an interest in woodworking and sculpture.

Mikhail holds a master’s in architecture from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s in architecture with an architecture history minor from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mikhail’s graduate thesis at Arizona State focused on Argentinian squatter settlements and formal neighborhoods in the city of Neuquen, studying in particular ways to integrate these two underserved communities into the broader community.
